  • Neck lumps
  • Cancer of the head and neck

Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy

This is a very common procedure carried out under general anesthetic.

Septoplasty and Turbinate Surgery

This is very common procedure which is designed to improve the nasal airway.

Balloon Sinuplasty

Mr Manjaly was the first specialist in Southeast England to pioneer this new technique. Balloon sinuplasty achieves the goal of endoscopic sinus surgery through the use of a balloon catheter to gently open up the sinus pathways, immediately improving sinus function and drainage, and without the need for removal of tissue. This procedure works in much the same way as balloon angioplasty is used to open up blocked arteries. The technology is minimally invasive and safe, significantly reducing risk and recovery time. Further information at this website: http://www.balloonsinuplasty.com/

Mastoidectomy, Myringoplasty, Ossiculoplasty and Tympanoplasty

These operations are carried out to remove the disease from the mastoid bone and to repair the defects from that removal. This can be repair of the ear drum (myringoplasty), little bones of the ear to improve the hearing (ossiculoplasty). Mastoidectomy has to be performed for achieving complete clearance of the disease.

Thyroidectomy

Thyroid surgery is usually carried out for 2 reasons: A thyroid lump is suspected to be a tumour, or the size of the lump is such that it is pressing on the wind pipe giving discomfort and breathing difficulties.

Insertion of Grommets

This is a simple operation which can be done as a day case for children and adults.

Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)

The aim of this operation is to unblock all the sinuses by directly visualising the sinuses using a telescope and a camera.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is an operation which is tailor-made and is done to correct the deformity of the external nose. Each operation will depend on the number of specific deformities that need correction and it is decided after a lengthy consultation with the use of digital images.

Parotidectomy

The commonest reason for surgery in this area is to remove benign lumps. This particular surgery is very intricate because the nerve which supplies the movement of the face runs through the gland and has to be identified and preserved.

Skin Lesions

This is a very common problem in this region (Eastbourne, East Sussex) because of the increased exposure to sunlight.  The commonest lesions we see are Solar Keretosis, and Basal cell Carcinoma. These lesions can be excised fully and completely eradicated with good cosmetic results.
